MEC Enterprizes PROTEK Emergency Information Shoe Tags
Mary Patterson, Elizabeth Repa (Betty), Carole Terry and Jackie Archibald
How much would you pay for peace of mind? Fifty dollars? One hundred dollars? More? We have a little strip of Velcro that will bring you peace of mind for $5.00.
Several summers ago while vacationing in Haliburton, I asked Mary about a tag she wore on her walking shoe. It was an identification tag. She and Carole have participated in walking marathons and the tag (from the USA) was given to them by their running group.
“What a good idea. We should buy some.”
There was nowhere to buy them in Canada. Through our research, it became apparent that the applications and need for these tags was huge. Walkers, runners, cyclists, children, seniors, babies and people with mental or physical limitations would benefit. On the reverse there is space for your name, emergency contact name, their phone number and any medical information that should be provided to Emergency Response Teams. Confidence for the wearer and peace of mind for your loved ones!
Now we, at MEC Enterprizes, are all senior women; three retired and one working. Statistics show seniors have the best chance of starting a successful business. We are serious about working hard to achieve success in reaching and exceeding our goals.
Our product is important to people’s safety. It’s such a simple thing. What could be easier than writing your name, contact person’s name and number and any pertinent medical information on the back of the PROTEK tag with a permanent marker and attaching it to your shoe lace or Velcro strap.
True Peace of Mind Story: Carole’s daughter, Kate, was waiting at the finish line of Carole’s first marathon. Carole and Mary had finished earlier than expected and Kate had missed them. When Carole finally found Kate, Kate was crying because she thought her mom had taken sick. Carole told Kate that her name was on the back of Carole’s shoe tag and, had something gone wrong, Kate’s cell phone would have rung.
A little piece of Velcro and a lot of peace of mind.
Mary used the tags on an outing with her grandchildren to Niagara Falls. We all know how quickly children move out of sight. Mary wrote her cell number only, on the back of the tags and told the children to go to someone in uniform if they are lost and ask them to phone “Grandma” by using the number found on their shoe tag.
We’ve heard news stories about senior citizens who were out walking alone, became ill and were taken to the hospital. Without any identification on them, they were admitted as a John or Jane Doe until their frantic partners eventually found them. I think we all need to have this little tag to give our families some peace of mind. Such a small price to pay.
I’ve used it on my 9 month old granddaughter’s stroller and car seat. Who would know who to contact if something were to happen while out with her ?
We can incorporate your corporate logo/brand on the outside of the tag. Just imagine your logo walking all over town every day. We think they are a great way to advertise your business and show concern for the safety of the members in your community.
One customer said “I’m wearing this to my gym. No one there knows anything but my first name and I never carry my gym card with me.” Great idea! Protek tags would be perfect for fitness centres and gyms to give to members as part of their registration.
Protek tags are also an excellent fundraiser for schools and clubs. They have an above average return, no allergy concerns, and no limited shelf life. In fact, the sale of 1000 tags (500 packages of 2) would net you $2000.00 for your school or club.
These tags come in two sizes, large and small. They are available in three designs, PROTEK (large only), Inukshuk (2 sizes) and Splotch (small only). All tags come in packages of two. The PROTEK tags, sell for $10.00. A package of two of the Inukshuk and Splotch tags sell for $11.00. Your return on each package of tags is $4.00. This is a high return, safety fundraiser. They can be ordered at www.getprotek.com or by telephone at 1 800- 746-3824.
